Medicare Advantage vs Medicare Supplement in Tampa Bay
Medicare Advantage (Part C) replaces Original Medicare with a private plan that typically bundles Part A, Part B, and Part D with extra benefits. Medicare Supplement (Medigap) works alongside Original Medicare to cover cost-sharing gaps. The right choice depends on your health needs, preferred providers, budget, and how much predictability you want in your costs.
This is one of the most common Medicare questions for Tampa Bay prospects. Integrity Health Solutions is independent — we compare both paths across carriers available in your Florida county, not just one company’s products.

Medicare Advantage (Part C) in plain language
Medicare Advantage replaces Original Medicare with a private plan approved by CMS. Most plans include Part D drug coverage and may offer extras such as dental, vision, hearing, transportation, or OTC allowances.
Networks matter. HMO plans typically require in-network providers and may require referrals. PPO plans usually allow out-of-network care at higher cost and may not require referrals.
Medicare Supplement (Medigap) in plain language
Medigap works with Original Medicare (Parts A and B). You keep broad provider access under Original Medicare, and the supplement helps pay deductibles, coinsurance, and copays depending on the plan letter (for example Plan G or Plan N).
You usually need a separate Part D plan for prescriptions. Premiums vary by carrier, age, and underwriting rules in Florida.
How we help you choose
We verify whether your doctors and hospitals participate, check your drug list, and compare total annual cost — not just the monthly premium. Then you decide with clear tradeoffs.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement?
Medicare Advantage (Part C) replaces Original Medicare with a private plan that typically bundles Part A, Part B, and Part D with extra benefits. Medicare Supplement (Medigap) works alongside Original Medicare to cover cost-sharing gaps. The right choice depends on your health needs, preferred providers, budget, and how much predictability you want in your costs.
Do I need a referral with Medicare Advantage?
It depends on the plan type. HMO plans typically require referrals to see specialists and require you to use in-network providers. PPO plans allow you to see out-of-network providers (usually at higher cost) and may not require referrals. An independent agent can help you identify which plan structure fits your lifestyle.
Can I switch later if I choose wrong?
Sometimes — timing depends on enrollment periods (AEP, OEP, or a qualifying SEP). We explain what is possible before you enroll so you are not surprised later.
Is there a cost to compare plans with Integrity Health Solutions?
No. There is no cost to the client. We are compensated by carriers when you enroll. Call 727-348-0589 or schedule at go.integrityhealth.solutions.
